December Ukulele Updates
Hello Everybody,
In the spirit of the holidays, and with the help of Connor Garvey, I have recorded the following video as a gift to my mailing list:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8AeBYJXyRU
If you're in the Portland, ME area I'll be playing at Local Sprouts this Friday with a few other local acts. It will be great to return to the venue where I kicked off the Ukulele by Bicycle Tour
Speaking of the Ukulele by Bicycle Tour, a huge thank you to everybody who played a part in making the tour a success. Thank you to all of those who helped to organize or promote a concert, gave me a place to stay or a meal, came out to the shows and participated in the music. You all played a part in a very special adventure and I couldn't have done it without you. When all was said and done I rode my bicycle from Portland, Maine to Americus, Georgia and performed in 40 communities along the way, a total distance of 2,249 miles. I didn't count broken spokes or flat tires, but for the most part my bicycle held up wonderfully (a lot of that is due to the tune-up done by the folks at the Bethlehem Bicycle Cooperative).
There are wonderful memories from every stop along the tour and I'll try to write some stories in detail on my blog over the course of the winter. Here are a few that stand out: a short kayak on the Musconetcong River thanks to the Musconetcong Watershed Association, picking arugula and generally spending a quality day off with the people at Lynchburg Grows, jamming with Snidely Sidewinder and the Unrepentant Uke Boys - Spartanburg, SC's most bike friendly ukulele band. Above all, it was great to see so many people come out to support organizations that are doing work in their community.
For photos, videos, stories and general information about the Ukulele by Bicycle Tour, check out my blog. I'll be taking some time away from the road this winter, but may be heading back out next summer.

march updates
Lots of stuff going on in the next few weeks.
First of all, I was just added to the Monkey Rock Songwriters Circle at the All-Asia in Cambridge, MA. I will be playing from 6:00-6:30 pm on Wednesday March 17th. Don't be late, or you'll miss it.
On Thursday March 18th I am headed to Bates College in Lewiston, ME for a trio show. The band has been sounding great, so definitely check it out if you live in Lewiston. Show starts at 9pm. For those of you in the rest of the world, I will be playing on WRBC Radio Bates College at 6:30. Tune in online at http://wrbcradio.com.
In the first weekend of April, I am headed to Burlington, VT for a couple of solo shows. On Friday April 2nd, I will be performing at the George Street Spring Concert Series, which is a brand new house concert series. Please contact me for details if you are in Burlington and interested in attending. On Saturday April 3rd, I'll be playing at Ake's Place around 7:00.
Be on the lookout for more shows this spring, including Portland, ME, Cambridge, MA and New York, NY. The up-to-date tour schedule can be found here.
If you are interested in buying a CD and can't make it to a show, it is now available for download on iTunes. Hard copies, which include the amazing artwork done by Hayley Anson and myself can be ordered through the mail at CD Baby or you can send me an email for details on how to buy one directly from me.

contest #1
If you have seen one of my shows, you know that audience participation plays a big role. In an attempt to encourage audience participation on the internet, I am launching a series of contests. New contests will be released when we are all sick of the old one, or when I have a new idea. Winners will be picked by me, audience votes or a shady back room deal. Regardless, the winner will be given some sort of a prize.
The first contest will be to write a Ukulele Haiku. For example:
a contest to write
a ukulele haiku
submit yours today
In contrast to the songs on my record, you won't be required to use the word ukulele, as it would take up 4 of your precious syllables, but your haiku is required to relate to the ukulele. You can enter by posting your haiku on the facebook wall, commenting on this blog post or by email.

Remember to check out my music on reverbnation.
If you haven't bought a copy of the CD yet, you can now use cd baby in addition to the more traditional method of sending me a check.

album and concert updates
At this point it looks as though the album will be ready by late January. I am confident enough in this that I have scheduled a CD Release concert for February 6 at the Ossipee Mountain Grange Hall in Water Village, NH, which will be a great venue for my music. Jeff and Jeff will be joining me on piano and bass for the first live performance of the trio that is featured on the record and I am sure that I'll be joined by a few more special guests as well.
I will also be playing on February 20 as part of salon night at The Red Door Pottery Studio in Kittery, ME. Stay tuned for more shows throughout Northern New England.
